I grew up in the Midwest. Over the past 30+ years, our family has made several moves for the purpose of Church Planting. Fourteen years ago, we landed in Nashiville, TN - where I still live with my husband, Gene and Jett, the dog. Our two boys have finished college and are figuring out their next steps.
I am currently practicing at a large University Medical Center in Nashville as a Perianesthesia Nurse. I love learning and I do everything in a way that honors my desire to think, create and learn. This has opened me up to reimagining my own journey, my own wellness. I love to research, in efforts to be better equipped to empower others to pursue their purpose. Nothing gives me more joy than when someone I work with finds their voice and steps into their God given calling.
Some of what I do....
Developing learning programs for improving individual and organizational performance.
Strategic planning and meeting facilitation
Certified Clinical Aromatherapist
Published author, researcher, speaker, educator on the incorporation of evidence based essential oils in health care
Consulting related to health care, non-profit organizations, and faith-based organizations.
Nursing Research Scholar, Contributing Editor for the Peer - reviewed, Empowered Nurse Journal - Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Coordinator of Well-Being Strategic Workforce - ASPAN (American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses)
Mindset and Self-Leadership Coach to nurses seeking to avoid and overcome Moral distress, Burnout and Experience Autonomy, Mastery and purpose in their nursing career.
Over the past 12 years, I have researched and published the amazing outcomes we are getting in health care with the use of essential oils. I have been interviewed by magazines and podcasts. I have consulted with some of the top health care institutions on how to integrate oils into practice. I partnered with other nurses to host the first of its kind - Essential Oil Nurses Conference- that has led to the founding of a professional organization for evidence based essential oils for integration into health care. I have presented evidence for essential oil for professional organizations, small groups and even crowds of of up to 30,000! So, when I say I love to share essential oils, I do mean it. Public speaking was never my dream... but when you have something valuable to share - you share it.
I have been coaching leaders for decades. This year I decided to obtain Board Certification in Nurse Coaching. With that, I have expanded my tool box for what I do best - help others discover their passions, talents and personal style to make the impact that they desire.
For more than years, my husband and I have followed a calling to bring a message of hope and healing to as many as we can reach. As a Nurse, I work with people enough to know what kind of difference making even small changes can make! Reimagine Wellness is for anyone who wants to come along on a journey with me to to make health care better for everyone - one simple step at a time.
My desire for you is that you would discover life as God has intended it for you. May you be full of joy and know all things that are pure and lovely and good!
Grace and Peace!

As Frances Hesselbein said,
“Culture does not change because we desire to change it. Culture changes when the organization is transformed; the culture reflects the realities of people working together every day.”
Nurses are changing the culture of Health Care and I am determined to be part of the Solution - to help eeryone move forward.
What is a Nurse Coach
Nurse coaching is a skilled, purposeful, results-oriented and structured client interaction that is provided by Registered Nurses for the purpose of promoting achievement of client goals. (Dossey, Hess, et. al, 2013)
Nurse coaches promote and facilitate the growth, healing and wellbeing of the whole person by using coaching principles and healing modalities that integrate body-mind-emotion-spirit-environment. Nurse coaches are required to have several years of nursing education and experience as a foundation to developing their coaching skills.
Nurse coaches integrate coaching competencies into any setting and specialty area of nursing practice to facilitate a process of change or development that assists individuals and/or groups to actualize their potential.
The nurse coaching process involves six simultaneously occurring steps:
Establish the relationship and assess client’s readiness for change
Identify client opportunities and issues
Assist client in establishing goals
Structure the coaching interaction
Empower clients to reach their goals
Assist clients in determining the extent to which their goals were achieved
(Adapted from Hess, D., Dossey, B., Southard, M. Luck, S. Schaub, B., & Bark, L. (2013). The art and science of nurse coaching).
Nurse coaches work with the whole person using principles and modalities that integrate body-mind-emotion-spirit-environment to promote health, wellness, and wellbeing while they facilitate their client’s growth and healing. Nurse coaches are supportive and encouraging, building on the client’s strengths rather than attempting to correct weaknesses. Nurse coaches provide guidance and resources to the client who is the expert on their own needs and choices.
Examples of nurse coaching services include helping:
Hospitals to improve nursing staff retention
Individuals to improve their overall health and well-being
Insurance companies to reduce the cost of disease management
Some nurse coaches work in private practice; some collaborate with other health professionals in a group practice, and others are employees. According to surveys, nurse coaches can earn similar or more income than they do working in hospitals.
