If you are going to spend all day with stress... why not? It's not going away... what if you could make it your friend?
What is crazier? letting stress manage your day, your relationships, your career, your health? or acknowledge it, manage it and make friends with it?
In numerous polls taken within the nurse community- STRESS makes the top of the list - EVERY TIME!
High pressure. Fast paced. No breaks. Increased work load. More people to tell you what you are doing wrong that what you are doing right. Surrounded by crisis, illness, pain, bodily fluids. If you hydrate properly, you may not be able to get away to find a bathroom and in my setting, there is ONE single bathroom that is shared by hundreds of staff and patients... so hydrating seems like a bit of risk!
Do you hear things like this all day....
Why did you do that? Why didn't you do this.. why didn't you do this faster? sooner? Why did you do that without checking with me first? Don't page me again. Page me when I need to be there.
Get away from me! Come here! Why did it take you so long? Why do you keep coming in here?
