"The ancients knew that love and not expertise was the foundation of medicine but we, seduced by science, have almost forgotten this." Rachel Remen, MD
Sometimes I struggle with staying in touch with WHY I do what I do as a nurse, it is because of this relationship we have with science. It doesn't have to be but often is mutually exclusive.
Dr. Rachel Remems goes on to say, "For several generations now we have not been trained to be fellow human beings. We have been trained to be experts. But perhaps now is the time to escape the limitations of our training and remember the source of our strength. For all of its scientific and technological power, this work we do is not a work of Science. Science is only our most recent set of tools. This work is a work of Service and Service is a special kind of love."
Essential oils have been around for centuries. The largest scope for a case study in history. Little to no FDA approval, also little to no negative outcomes. I love what essential oils do for people I love. I love what essential oils do for my head tension, sleep, and energy level! Essential oils are safe for everyone, available to everyone. I enjoy combining essential oils into my world of science. Even more, I enjoy serving and loving those I cross paths with by sharing this gift of the earth for enhancing our lives.
I imagine that love is at the core of all the work we do. What is it that you do? Why do you do what you do?
